Achieve Performance Objectives - Manage fast paced urgencies and focus on what is most important
Time is a critical factor in business today. Work is increasingly dynamic where competing priorities, complexity and ambiguity, flatter organizations, and rapidly changing technology all converge to place growing pressure on people to work longer hours with increasing levels of stress in order to generate results.
Yet, despite all this pressure on results, it is often difficult to find the time to get the right things done. By approaching time management as an investment in being effective rather than in being efficient, one can be more assured of generating business results. From this perspective, maximizing ones time investment requires identifying critical goals and objectives and maintaining focus on those activities that achieve them.
The critical skills needed to manage time to achieve critical goals and objectives are discussed. This session provides tools and strategies to guide participants to invest their time effectively in activities that generate results.
Key Content - 6 sessions (one hour per session)
Setting Performance Objectives & Priorities - 3 sessions
- Clarify work expectations of direct reports in order to increase efficiency and effectiveness
- Define goals, objectives, and performance standards.
- Identify and set performance standards that are specific, measurable, attainable, results-oriented, and time-framed, using concrete active language.
- Establish time limits for all performance standards.
- Involve team members in creating their own individual performance standards.
- Negotiate to develop performance standards for team members that address both desired results and team.
- Follow up with team members and hold them accountable for agreed upon actions.
Time Effectiveness - 3 sessions
- Recognize the most important liabilities in work habits
- Understand how your time is currently spent and misspent
- Develop more efficient, productive work habits, including organizing and prioritizing
- Understand and manage your work flow better
- Learn general tips on behavioral changes for effective time management
- Discover the most efficient, promising path to improving work habits
- Understand how to manage time more efficiently (urgent vs important)
